How Do I Get 107bhp From My Yaris 1.3

Hi guys,

Was reading about the Daihatsu Sirion (the 98-05 model) and, as a lot of you will know, they use the same VVT-i engines as used in the yaris. However, there Rally2 model has 107 bhp and some rather impressive stats Shown here

Also there bog standard one (i.e. not the rally one) has 101 bhp and a 0-60 of 9.3 (ok admitedly it's lighter) Shown here O and it also, rather annoyingly, still has a higher MPG than my SR

So, how'd they do it? Is it simply a remap? a combination of remap and induction/exhaust changes? If they're the same engine would it be possible to swap the ECU's or are they manufacture specific wiring rather than engine specific wiring?

Just interested as potential for a very good gaining mod here!

Cheers,

Woody

Being a muppet i did the search after posting :P According to Yves its a different engine? Only similarity being there both 1.3's that run VVT-i? Then there's a lot of banter in the post about changing the crank will make the difference and one guy has seen it done but it kinda ends there

Here's the post for anyone interested! It was a long time ago so thats why i didn't know had been discussed before (that's my exscuse and im sticking by it!)

think sprattys rally car was making around 120bhp! and most of the Yaris cup cars do....

but in terms of a road car... why? total waste of time if you ask me as itll cost thousands to do it....

you can easily breach a ton with a simple 25bhp nitrous setup which will remain safe as long as you dont hammer it and cost you less than 500notes

Lol nonono i dont WANT more power its just i thought it may be simply just a different ECU if its the same engine as i doubt that daihatsu fitted sports exhausts etc to their base model sirion so was just interested tbh. I aint saying i want 100bhp desperately just meant would be cool if you could swap an ECU for that extra bhp! But yeah if they are different engines it makes it non valid but i obviously didn't know that until i read that post (although i have read in car mags where they say the daihatsu sirion uses the toyota vvt-i engine so i guess it just means their technology?)

Woody

Easiest answer is to put a T Sport engine in.

You passed your test less than 24 hours ago and now want more power?

Behave yourself, Woody! You've not even taken it out on the road yet, have you?

Learn to cope with the 86bhp you've got first.

That's plenty enough to scare yourself silly with if you get it wrong but more importantly...

you're less likely to get it wrong.:thumbsup:

New drivers like you Woody scare me :censor:

Reece that's a bit harsh! If you would have read my post just before your first one i had said

I didn't want the more power for my engine as i am quite happy with 87 bhp (will feel like a lot for me :P) and i definately dont want to do ANY performance mods for a while until when i can afford to insure with them by which time i will probably want to move onto a Tsport (were talking like atleast 2 years time to consider a Tsport). I am purely just interested and just wondered how it was done mainly for other owners than myself. Everyone misinterpreted it as me wanting the bhp so i guess i worded it very badly! (Probably should have titled it "how would you get this bhp from a yaris 1.3". My mistake) But yeah for the record i don't want/need any more power i just wondered why this hadn't been done before as sounded far too good to be true!

Infact i even had 4 minors for being hesitant as i was sooo cautious (as i had failed my first i wasn't going to take chances!)

EDIT: Just looked and your first post in this topic was a minute behind my post in which i explained i didn't want the extra power. I guess you didn't read it before posting as you were probably posting as i was. Then when you posted the second time in this thread i guess you read the posts after your first post (the one a minute after mine) so wouldn't have seen it. That would make your comment about me being a scary driver valid! I would have thought it a bit dodgy too but it was just a misunderstanding and my fault.

 and now, in English.

I think we're just saying take it easy, that's all. It's a difficult and steep learning curve once you've past your test and we don't want to hear of anyone else having a shunt.

Good luck with the exam and enjoy your car.
