Does anyone know how easy it is to add rear Speakers to a 3 door car which only has fronts? Is the wiring already installed? What size should they be? I'm not keen on getting them dealer fitted as I expect it will be far cheaper to do it myself, even if I buy fairly expensive Speakers.

Thanks

Richard

also have sub n amp lol ;)

Does the standard stereo have pre-outs then? Or is it one that runs off the speaker outputs? Hmm, perhaps I should consider a little stereo amp...

The original doesn't have pre-outs. And the rear Speakers in the Plus and Sport are actually dealer fitted so there aren't any wires there. There is manuals on how to install all Toyota parts at this link http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/aim_mp.asp so go there and put in Aygo on the drop down list select audio and download the PDF that tells you how to install the rear Speakers. It has lovely pictures but no words. However the rear Speakers in my plus appear to be 160mm or similar. But to be honest you could put whatever size you want back there so long as you make it look tidy. With regards to pre-outs you can either buy a converter and add that to your radio wiring loom or buy a new headunit (or add an equaliser like I have, post about somewhere with info).

As I have run cabling in my car I would say its quite easy to route, just lift the seals on the doors and put it in the gap. The only problem you might have if your running a fat power cable to your amp for your sub (like I did) then there is a bar in the middle of the car and you have to pull the carpet up a fair way to route it to avoid making a lump in the carpet. The rear speakers should be easy though.

I had seen those manuals before, but assumed that the one labelled 'tweet' was just installing a front tweeter. Thanks for the help. I'm not sure how long I'll wait between recieving my spanking new car, and drilling big holes in it though...

I'll probably remove the rear side trim panels and work out how big I can go, I wouldn't be happy with the bass I would get from the 10cm Speakers which are mentioned in the install manual, but I don't want to go to the cost and effort of fitting a sub or amp either. I'm glad that the only option isn't the parcel shelf, as I'm sure I'll be removing that far too often.

At a later date I'm sure I'll replace the head unit with something more powerful and which can take mp3 cd's, but for a while I'll be happy with 4 half decent Speakers.
