Air-condition

Hi everyone! :D I've got a new Corolla E12 1.4 VVT-i ,but i'm wondering why the air-condition is that weak...The other car in our family is one absolutely UNreliable Peugeot 406 2.0HDI,but it has an excellent automatic air-conditioning,really freezy! But my new Corolla is with manual air-con and in hot and Not so hot days the air-con is very weak i think,it's not too freezy like Peugeot's.When the outside temp is 20-24 degrees ,i have to turn the dial at least in the middle of the blue zone and to turn the fan on 2 or 3,but when outside is 26-30 degrees ,i have to turn the dial on max cold and fan on 3 or 4,otherwise if the fan is on 1 or 2 it blow on my hands, but i can't feel the cold air in the car! :crybaby:

P.S.When the dial isn't on Max cold, the compressor switch on and off automatically for some seconds, only when i turn it on Max cold on the blue zone, the compressor works all the time and doesn't stop!

Is there any fault or it's normal for Corolla's the air-condition to be not so freezy?

Mine isn't as cold as other car's I have been in ..... it's cold but I know what you mean

Would agree with you there - I've owned the car from 4,500 miles on the clock so it's not as if it has deteriorated since!

Possibly it's due to 'eco' friendly compressors: less powerful, more easy on the MPG.

The less cold air con is certainly the case with BMW, I've sat in 2 spanking brand new BMWs and not so cold air.

I think older air con compressors took more engine power - and if switched on robbed the BHP and blunted acceleration. I believe on my E Class under hard acceleration it automatically disengages the air con compressor delivering all the power to the 'wheels'

In home air con equipment anyway, the power of the system is measured in KW, the more powerful, the more juice it consumes.

To a certain degree it feels like it does... but the Corolla on coldest setting is just a notch below 16 degrees!
