E12 Gearchange Problems

Looking for re-assuring replys to my gearchange problem...

Recently bought a 2.5 year old Corolla T3 1.6 Hatchback - love

it very much indeed even after a lifetime driving and owning

VW Golfs....This car has only done 15 K miles

My gear change is rather disappointing - quite"crunchy" at times

Seems worst 3/4 or 4/5 gear change.

I did ask the service chap to try it but gave me the impresion

that it was faily normal for cable "driven" gear box..

I have done a forum search with no hits.

Is it a known problem that possibly requires a manufactures update.

I have similar problem with shifting gears. 2/3 is very problematic, but 4/3 is OK (?). SOmetimes 4/5 is problematic, and shifting to reverse is sometime creaky.

Also, I hear a click under the car when I'm shifting in 1st gear or reverse.

I told them (service) to check on it last time, but they didnt do anything, said everything is OK.

Everythime i get that crunchy gear change, is due to lack of pushing clutch down far enough and changing to early

Or perhaps thats just my driving style

I get a crunch or two rarely when driving, but like man-bing put it down to driver error :P

More regular when going into reverse when parked, even with the clutch on the floor.
