Surfed the net and the best price I could find for a red 3 door Aygo Sport was £6938 from DrivetheDeal. I'd rather give a local company the business so emailed my nearest dealer with the quote. Looking for a car for 1 Sep delivery.

I was passing so dropped by and they said they would do their best to get my business but couldn't quite match the price. I left asking them to have a think about it and get back to me with their best price.

Within a couple of hours they sent an email offering a car for £7050. Going in for a test drive next week before I commit.

What do you think of this deal? I'm happy with an extra £100 to deal with a local company. It's a cash price BTW, no finance.

tell them if they throw in a set of mats, full tank of fuel, nice keyring and some odds and sods the buisness is theirs...

(these things dont cost much to the dealer)

I've asked for a set of Aygo carpet mats.

as a last try, hum and har about it to the sales man, and say, if you give it to me for 7,000, ill buy it now

Say: Give me some nice 16" alloys for a very low price with the Aygo otherwise I buy the C1 at Citroen" :D

Sounds good to me - I would go for air if I was you - worth it IMO and will assist resale when you come to sell it.

I have to disagree :P ... but I could be wrong of course

I am in Scotland, people here are not so fussed about aircon. It would add about 7.5% to the cost of the car. On resale, say after 3 years it would make little difference to a trade in value and almost none to a private sale on a car worth about £3.5k.

Doesn't it? Petrol costs the same where ever you go, the sales team are charge retail for Matts by the parts dept as are other odds and sods which are classed as parts, ok the key rings are cheap!!

Don't know Toyota's margins but Nissan don't have a lot to play with on new vehicles, best time to normally get a good deal is when the dealership has had a hard month and needs those new reg's for target!

stop it... you know it does...

okay the fuel costs, but that goes on a fuel card directly to the garage, and they can claim back the VAT.

For mats, if there is a sale associated with it, the garage takes a minimal hit as its part of a 'gift' package with the car and they get it for cost from the manufacturer...

never trust a car salesmen ;)

I think after getting 10% off the cost of the car free SATNAV is unlikely

Nothing in life is free, what did you pay for your car in relation to the list price?

Did you take it out on a finance deal? Dealers probably make more in commission on finance than they do on the cars themselves?

I would pay the extra £100. If there is a warranty issue at least you know your local garage won't "put your car to the bottom of the to-do list"...

I think that's a good price, I would take it if it was me.
