Brake Pads Replacement

Hi All,

Had the 30k service done yesterday on my '04 Avensis 2.0 D4D. Cost £149 incl a pollen filter.

Anyway, the service manager reported that front pads were 80% worn and rears were 70% worn. I asked him for the cost of replacing both sets. I was shocked !!!!!!!

Front - Approx £130

Rears - Approx £170

On my previous car (Ren Laguna) I paid £75 for the fronts. Sold it with 59k still on the original rears.

As the car is still under warranty, I am thinking of purchasing original Toyota pads and getting the local VAT registered garage to replace them as it should be cheaper then Toyota.

Any advise on the costs would be appreciated.

would only take a mechanic between one and two hours max but check price of pads from dealer would be quite expensive compared with aftermarket :)

I needed the front brake pads changing on my corolla, i didnt want to pay the prices that toyota charge so i bought the brakes from the parts department from my toyota garage and then went to a place like kwik fit and got them changes, they charged me £35 and it included a brake fluid change.

Worth a try.
