Autoglym Deep Shine Polish (56k Warning)

Hi,

I still haven't got a Toyota, and I think I'm settled with my car happily, but I thought this might be of some use to people, as it doesnt apply to any car in particular.

I just got some Autoglym Deep Shine Polish for Dark Paints, and figured I might as well give it a shot.

All I did, was wash the car with hot water with a splash of fairy liquid in it, and then hand dry it. I applied the deep shine polish with a cotton dishcloth, left it to dry slightly and turn white on the paint surface, then I used a new cotton cloth to buff it into the paint. After I'd done this, I used a thin coat of Autoglym Super Resin Polish, doing the same again and buffing it up. Cleaned my wheels for a break, and then set to with a coat of Turtlewax to keep the rain off it nicely. Once I'd finished applying everything and buffing it, I ran over the surface with another clean cloth, just for a glass finish, and it was unreal, I'm really happy with it.

I've added some pictures here, don't know about everyone else, but I think it's great, the paintwork is almost mirror finish.

I think that the Turtlewax was responsible for the mirror like finish ;)

Does look VERY impressive!

Never tried the dark paint resin polish, but tried the Resin + Extra Gloss combo,

for me it works less better than Turtle Wax + Gloss Guard combo

The Gloss Guard is much easier to apply than Auto Glym's Extra Gloss and doesn't smear.

I've yet to try Turtles Extreme Nano-Tech Polishing Wax which is rated by Auto Express.

By the way, you shouldn't use washing up liquid to wash your car

Well, I tend to use AutoGlym Car Shampoo, but to be honest, Fairy Liquid does exactly the same job, and it's far cheaper, so often I'll just use that. The car gets washed very regularly so it gets expensive lol.

On another note, the Daimler is away on Wednesday night to it's new home, and on Thursday I'm picking up my new vehicle, so I'll post some pictures of that when I get her.

Impressive results there. I was going to say the same thing about the washing up liquid, but then again I've been known to use Herbal Essences Hair Shampoo on my car before. Smelt gorgeous afterwards!

Lol! Well I've bought a Range Rover Vogue SE, and I've been playing with that for the last couple of weeks. The alloys are arriving today, and we'll see how well I can get her cleaned up for some photos, and I'll chuck them up. Might even try a bit of the old Loreal, she's worth it lol.

Judging from the way the Parcel Force van flew past, I'm guessing my alloys arent arriving today :crybaby:

Probably be the weekend by the time I get them on at this rate! :ffs:

I wonder if using conditioner afterwards makes any difference :D

Well then, lets get serious again lol!

This weekend I got rid of my horrible old alloys on the Range Rover, and put my nice new ones on. Here's some pics, before and after. She got a very good wash and detail as well.

This is her before the new wheels and washing:

These are a couple taken afterwards:

What do you reckon?

Also, out of interest, when I got her, she looked pretty rough, I've taken the bullbar off, changed the wheels, spent a long time getting things cleaned and sorted, and had the windows done etc. How much do you think you'd pay for a Range Rover looking like the one above now?

The reason i ask, me and a friend of mine were having a discussion about whether or not keeping your car clean and tidy adds to the value or not, and I figure this is a good place for some impartial advice lol! I'll tell you all how much I paid for it when I get some guesses in.

Cheers.

Matt

Hi Matt - I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to Range Rovers, but I'll have a real guess... Erm... I'd say you paid about £500 for it and could sell for £800 - 995 ??

*runs away...

Looking good though, keep up the car detailing.

I would think you paid £1000 top for it and hope to sell it for £1000 plus a bit more than the replacement wheels cost. Is there much of a market for March 1991 4 litre Range Rovers?

You certainly made it look shiney on top.....................is there much corrosion underneath?

Very close lol. She's absolutely spotless underneath, and it's been stripped to the chassis from the rear seats back, and had all new floor panels, upper and lower tailgate, and a new rear wing. Also waxoyled, with a shoebox full of history. Don't know what the prices are like down south, but I paid £1200 from a dealer for her, which was a good deal. The next nearest dealer was £1700 and it was shabby, and some lad in Carlisle reckons he's got an old one worth £2000 and it's rough as. We need them up in the hills lol, so shouldnt be too hard to flog it. Keep it for the winter though, she's quite fun tbh. V easy to get sideways in fords lol :D

Hoping to get nearer the £1500 - 2000 mark when I sell her, but ya never know!
