Hey hoho,

the ae111 levin/trueno came as a 1.6 20v blacktop, 1.6 N/a and 1.5 N/a. It spanned from 1995-2000, models were BZR, BZG, XZ, FZ and BZV.

The BZR was top of the range manual, 5spd, 1995-1997, and 6sp 1997-2000

The BZG was top of the range auto, and there was a facelift from 1997 onwards, different front bumper lights front and rear.

Top of the range meant electric windows, electric mirrors, sports seats, leather steering wheel, possible alloys, 20v engine, rear discs, stiff suspension, as you go down the models you lose the seats and power etc...

The facelift is realy nice looking, sportier lights and the BZR 6sp was kitted out with full body kit.

Now if your thinking supercharger then you'll be looking at the ae92 or ae101, engine output is slightly more thant the 20v and people in general find it a quicker engine.

The engine pumps out around 165bhp, the 20v more like 140bhp (even tho toyota quoted it at 165) and the supercharger has loadsa mods available to it, but the technology is old. Very strong engine, well bulit.

Price wise obvioulsy the 20v and superchargers go for more, the cars are quire rare, not a huge amount in country, the 1991-1995 ae101 are not worth loads but a fair amount considering age i have seen people quoting 3k, not worth that, i would say a pristine one, with less than 60,000 on clock, all electrics and very tidy would be worth around 2-2.5k, the newer ae111's are worth more cause they are newer and rarer i believe, maiinly due to importing laws and sva/esva tests. 1997+ bzrs are worth a fair amount talkin 4k+ and there are loads in ireland some people asking 7k+

hope this helps,

Kamran

Just to note the differences externally between the Sprinter Trueno and the Corolla Levin, is the different headlights and rear lights, the Levin coming with chrome 'lexus-style' headlights as opposed to the smoked darker headlights on the Trueno and the rear lights having three horizontal lines through them on the levin with none on the Trueno. Talking about later models (97 onwards).

The BZ-R was only available from mid 1997 onwards and never came in a 5 speed box.

Go for a 97+ BZ-R if you have the chance, Helical LSD, Superstrut Suspension, Alloy wheels and 6-speed box as standard (optional recaro interior also) and as spacefaceuk said the facelift is very nice. There are actually two types of 97+ BZ-G, one with 4-speed automatic and one with 6 speed manual. Many of them come equipped with SS as it was an optional extra.

When the BZ-R was introduced, Toyota saw no need to retain the 5-speed box so any BZ-G and BZ-R after mid 97 came with a 6 speed box as standard (with the exception of the 4-speed automatic in the second type BZ-G). The BZ-V went out on its own with 4 speed automatic only. So to sum up, pre mid-97 no manual AE111's had a 6-speed box and after mid-97 no manual AE111's had a 5-speed box.

In 1995 and 1996 before the BZ-R was introduced there was a SuperStrut BZ-G and a 'Standard' BZ-G, the SS BZ-G had LSD as well as SS whereas the standard BZ-G unfortunately had neither.

No-one has a 97+ BZ-V for the simple reason they are automatic. The 95/96 models came with a 5 speed box and LSD standard, no SS.

ABS was an optional extra on all AE111 95/96 models. Manual A/C is standard on all AE111's. No point discussing XZ and FZ, you don't want one, all info above excludes these models also. No passenger airbags in 95/96 models.

Any more questions ask away...

PS: The AE111 BZ models only came with a 4A-GE 20v and turbocharging and/or supercharging the 20v's is not very well documented and is very expensive. The Blitz turbo kit for the 20v is just over 10,000euro. What I have heard of though is people dropping the 16v 4A-GZE into this car and if you're on the wealthy side turning it into a 4A-GZTE. The 16v is a lot easier to work on than the 20v and a compression ratio of 11/1 on the 20v and a RPM limit of 9,000 tells you that it was meant to be a N/A car, so if you get one, stay N/A. People will disagree with the argument of turbo is always better but in this case, i don't think so. You may have heard the statement that the 20v is the closest to a race spec engine Toyota have ever produced. Wait until you hear those throttle bodies open, its amazing. Ask Fensport, they know their stuff when it comes to the 4A's.

If you fancied a supercharger version you could try and import a ae101 4AGZE Levin 1992-1994 They are cheap as you like

The ae111 levin is a mint car, you can now start to get hold of the 96' models with out having to go for the SVA

The only problem with the AE111 LEVIN is the superstrut... As with most of the superstrut models after 60k you have the old GT4 figure of 8 problem which is very expensive...

3k for a 93 levin ae101 is good mate  Depending on miles etc it would be a steal They look a bit dated but have plent of power to have a laugh in :D

95 onwards will be ae111 20v loads of things you can do the 20v depends on ££ but dont expect to have 160bhp out of the box :lol:

Insuance on my old rolla was 850 I had the conversion done in 2003 when I was 23 and the price only went down by £50 over 3 years :censor: The flux had me by the balls as no one else would insure me

Is there a reason you want the ae101 or ae111? If I was you I would go for an ae86 instead ;) it's rwd and you can pick up a 20v one for about 4-5k if you look around

The AE111 is just 20v, to stick a turbo on would cost you about 2k but you might as well keep in N/a it will be fast enough there are lots of other mods out there.

Have a look at www.autotrader.ie Autotrader.ie they have some ae111's on there will give you an idea on price

The difference between the AE111 20v's and the AE101 20v's is the AE111 came with a 'Blacktop' 20v as opposed to the 'Silvertop' on the AE101's. Slight differences such as lighter internals, bigger intake ports and higher lift cams made the Blacktop rated 5ps higher. Also a huge advantage can be had with the Blacktop as they were converted to MAP sensor where the Silvertop uses an AFM.

If you get a nice AE101 GT-Z (Supercharged model) i'd definitely go for it. Look at this one, it looks well nice. Let us know whay you decide to get in the end!

maybe u should look at different cars if ur gona import. why would u wana change for a AE111. a similar car that u could look at is the Nissan S15, which is much better and maybe cost the same, better looking and performance

Cost the same??? Not a chance. They're still going for close to 20 grand over here. I am 20, and hoho15 is 18. I'd love to know an insurance company in the England or Ireland who'd insure me or him on a 2.0 Turbo, if we were able to i certainly wouldn't be driving a 1.6 Trueno and neither would he be looking for one. Also, he has already stated that his budget is 3-4k. Don't get me wrong either, I love all the AE Toyotas and this will not be my last but if I had the chance to drive an R32 GTR I would.

Hoho, not sure about the bodykit, checked the site its up on and there's no info about it there, i'd say it is very difficult to get any sort of external bodykit for the AE101 so maybe looking for one that already has one would be a good idea.

Yeah exactly my reason too, i liked the originality and the prospect of the 20 valve engine, some lad came up to me last week and said it was a lovely integra

lol did u bite his ear?

Wasn't worth it, if I hadn't heard before from people telling me why i should have bought a honda and me explaining to them exactly why i didn't buy a honda or want one for that matter i would have said something so just said no its a toyota and left it at that. :nono:
