.....and it claims the 2000 onwards RAV4 has 6 common faults ! well my question to you guys is ,can you think of 6 common faults because i can't, just wondering if the site is having people over :( .....and no i don't plan to spend £5.99 to see what they are  :D .

Possible faults could be...

1) Alloy wheel corrosion,

2) Diesel flywheel failure,

3) sunroof water leaks,

4) Oxygen sensor failure,

But even this short list is not common to all late RAV4's.

Could the 'wear item' just be plain old suspension bushes? As for the three 'interior checks' - you could find something that moves on any car! Sounds like a bit of scaremongering to get the stuff sold....................now, where's my hammer..................?

This has happened to my 2001 Rav petrol over 5 years,

oxogen sensor replaced

replaced sunroof glass (leaking) this year

alloy wheels replaced in 2nd year

rear door rattle fixed this year

I think these must be the most common faults.

Design problems are,

paint marks easily

trash from front door pockets falls out of open gap :ffs:

no stay for hatch cover and it rattles

nowhere to put a mobile phone holder without marking the fragile plastic on the dash

Anyhow.......I still like it

Rav-mad,

On the issue of the phone holder. I have a Nokia car kit fitted in my RAV. It uses a neat bracket that attaches to the radio. It goes behind the left side spacer on the radio and does not touch the dashboard just a 5mm gap where the wires go through.

Another design fault on MKII is the Battery placement. !Removed! hard to access and get the cover off, and if the lugs break your in trouble.....

The early Freelander certainly got a bad press and, as a frequenter of Freelander forums, I've read many tales of woe. However, if my new Rav4 (D4D XT4 - being collected next week) turns out to be as fault-free and reliable as the Freelander I've had for the past 4 years/80000 miles, I'll be delighted.

1) Alloy wheel corrosion, I have that with my Rav 4 51 reg. But even my 2 previous Lexus had this... it's crap I know.

I have a rav 4, 2001 model automatic.

When you drive while engine is cold it changes gears perfectly, at soon as the engine warms up it struggles to change gears and constantly gears back and forth.  Has anyone come across this problem?
