Electric Window Problems On My Gen 6

Went to go out on saturday and put my window down it got half way down then started making some strange noises and went the rest of the way down. However the window would not go back up. I took the door card off to have a look, and after i bit of pocking around i realised the metal wire that goes through the pullies and motor had a strand frade and split i removed the strand that was broken after a lot of effort and managed to get the cable tidy again. The window still did not go up fully it went up about half way i eventually got it to go back up but it now does not work properly ie go up and down smoothly. I was wondering if any one else has had this problem i dont think its a fault on the atcuall motor as it still powers no problem i think it is more todo with this metal cable. Can the wire be replaced on its own or am i looking at a full new unit? Any help would be great also if any one has any diagrams of how it all works that to would be very usefull.

the motor is separate , i think you will need a new window regulator as pictured , look for a used one as new i recon will be quite expensive.?????????
