I'm looking at selling my car & getting something sportier & I'm leaning towards a Corolla TS, I posted in the Corolla forum a couple of days ago but as a lot of Yaris owners probably never venture into that forum I thought I'd post a link here, all opinions appreciated.

Just depends what your looking for fella. Either the Yaris TS or the Corolla TS would be quite a large step above your 1 litre. All boils down to insurance, boot space and other stuff like that at the end of the day. If I had the choice I'd be very happy to upgrade to a Yaris TS from my 1.3. Let us know what you decide thogh matey!

I looked into Corolla's but was put off when I read about the Oil problems in the early facelift models.

i've just upgraded from a 1.3 to a yaris TS and i've got to say it's probably one of the best decisions i've made, it's only about 20BHP more over the 1.3 and about 40 BHP more than the 1ltr but it's a much better ride all together, you can't really explain it without test driving a TS.

You can't go wrong no matter which one you choose, I prefer the look of the yaris to the look of the corolla, but it's all personal choice.

what about the silly-car with the same engine?

Never really thought about those but I've just done an insurance quote & it's over 4 times what I'd pay for insurance on the Corolla

Is it worth stayin toyota? I mean i would get the Tsport as its pretty good for its class but then the Corolla Tsport i dont think much too. My bro's girlfriends dad owns one and its ok but nothing special tbh! Why not consider cars outside the Toyota family?

I have been looking at other cars with an open mind but nothing really appeals to me, I was considering a Golf GTi but the performance figures of both the Yaris & Corolla TS's hammer them all (from what I can tell). I'd quite like to stick with a Toyota if I can because a) I don't want to become an outcast here and B) we've had at least 1 in the family since I was about 4 & never had a major problem with them.

Reliability is a massive factor for me so any car I get must be really reliable & I want something quite sporty & not major on the insurance (having said that, the CTS is group 14) so if any1 can think of anything I'm open to all suggestions.

I went from the 1Liter Yaris to a Celica T Sport and i am loving it. I did have doubts about the car but i am now convinced that it will be a car I will be keeping for a year or 2. Lift puts a BIG grin on your face. When most engines start dying, the T Sport engine comes to life.

The T sport engine is highly tunes as it is so squeezing more power out of it demands a bit more spending and more exotic mods. How about going for a Yaris T Sport like a few haave said here, then you have your low insurance and running costs plus you get an exclusive car with lots of modding potential :)

Hope it helps mate :)

my mum has a corolla T2, 1.6 engine, and i must say, even that is fast indeed, i also drive a 1.0li and when i drove my mums car, its very enjoyable lolz but then looks wise, not really that special in my opinion.

i myself am wanting a new ride, and i'm thinking of getting a classic, the AE86 corolla

I think the problem is that the MKI and MKII yaris was such a good car looks and performance wise ..... there is nothing in the market that competes with it at all :( !

It's a tough choice but don't go rushing it

The MKII has rubbish performance from what I've heard Dave. I think you mean the phase 1 and phase 2 right? ;)

Kev, have you thought about a Civic Type-R? Common I know, but it's easily faster and more fun than a Corolla T-Sport!

I never thought I'd be able to pay for the insurance on a Civic Type R but I've just done a quote on confused & it's less than £5 higher than a Corolla TS even though it's group 17, with the Corolla being group 14. I've got a feeling it's a mistake but that's what I thought when I 1st got a price for the Corolla so maybe it isn't.

They cost a bit more than what I was planning on spending but it's definately given me something to think about so well done for suggesting them, any other ideas any1?

It sounded too good to be true with the Civic so I went on the RAC site (who gave me the cheapest price on confused), put in all my details & it said I needed to phone so I did then they said they wont insure any1 under 25 or without 2 years or more driving experience on that car so I must have made a mistake on confused's site so it's back to the drawing board now :crybaby:

Not keen on getting a Yaris T-Sport instead?

If I could sit in 1 & feel really comfortable I'd probably buy 1 but I can't, if the seat could go back just another few inches it would be ideal but if I'm going to change my car I might as well go for 1 that I can happily sit in, other than that though they're ideal so I'm still thinking about them

How tall are you mate?

Only 5'11, I must have longer-than-average legs

I'm about 5ft 10" and I need to slide my seat forward a bit! Have you tried sitting nearly upright?

I'm 6ft and dont have a problem, believe it or not but the cts and ctr are extremely close in terms of performance, the better driver would be the quickest!!!

gotta say, i have a TS and it's too small for me. it's a great car, with a great engine and nippier than a nip in a nip storm. but my bro has a corolla ts and the quality is much higher. i think i'm gonna opt for that as it's roomier, and u get more toys.

I'm 6"7, and I can say that leg room is a slight issue, no problems about the head room, but the leg room it just a little tight. Not as much legroom as my old Fiat Punto Sporting, but its worth the cost, as it is a truely amazing car!

What about the Mk1 Seat Leon?

Really good looking cars and they do go! Plus its a Volkswagen underneath so it'll never break down and with it being VAG as well, insurance costs are low because parts are cheap and available....

That's the kind of suggestion I've been hoping for, I hadn't really looked a a Leon but after having a look (after reading this), I'd rather just buy a Golf, they've got a better reputation & I'd much rather have a 3 door if possible & they don't make Leon's with 3 doors. Good suggestion though
