Trc And Vsc Warnings

My T4 on two occasions now after not being used for a few days has showed TRC and VSC warnings on the dash panel when starting. After driving for a mile or so stopping and restarting the warnings disappear. I have not mentioned it to the dealer yet. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

In some cars like Mercedes strange warning messages can appear now and again if your Battery is going flat / on low charge / on the way out. I had all weird sort of messages until I changed the Battery, and all warning errors went away. The low voltage appears to effect the warning systems... I witnessed it when I pulled out of a Junction putting on more load when my traction control kicked in, and got warning messages on my dash.

If this is the case I guess your T4 is an early 03 with an older Battery (or you do a lot of stop start journeys, or use the car infrequently for it not to charge up the battery enough), if not then it's something else. The fact you say it disappears after you have been driving a while may indicate the battery has charged up a bit and can provide a more consistent current to the warning systems.

Kwik Fit and similar do free battery checks to eliminate that from the equation.

My T4 is a September 53 model. Could be Battery as it has only happened after the car has been not in use for a few days. There is no problem starting and everything else is ok.

If anybody else has had any ideas I would appreciate them.

The warning systems are more sensitive to be able to detect changes, at least in the case of Mercedes and VW.

(On my Audi when the Battery was low, it didn't throw the warning systems so it depends.)

One thing you may notice are the headlamps are less bright, especially if you load up the system at night with headlamps on, (perhaps fog lights too) radio on full blast, air con, fan on max in idle mode, then when the radiator fan cuts in the headlamps will dim.... or depending on the power of the stereo the headlights will dim in beat to the music :D

As your car is 53 the warranty should have it covered if it's not the Battery anyway. If it's the Battery it's excluded from the warranty items (I think, like tyres, exhaust, wipers, bulbs) - but if the battery itself has a 5 year product warranty then it's covered under it's own warranty :) ...but if they deem failure of the battery to be unable to hold any charge then you're a bit stuck :(
