My Import Celica

Hi

Here's my "work in progress" Gen5 JDM with it's GT4 bonnet.

My first Japanese car.

I've included pics of the wings as it appears big to me with 7 inch wheels fitted and still space under there.

Still needs jigging as the drivers front wishbone is back a bit.

Anyway what do you think.

Meant to go in Gallery but missed :crybaby:

Looks good from the pics posted

Could do with some bigger ones tho :P

Any particular reason why you have fitted a GT4 bonnet if its only a GT?

hi,

Could say that the scoop gives better airflow to the engine and the vents vent all that excess heat,

but as an ex MG enthusiast who has come to Japanese cars late in life, I've had enough of the purist approach and decided to go with whatever look suits the car and I think the GT4 bonnet sets off the Celica nicely.

Any suggestions from members of worthwhile mods would be welcomed.

Don't really know the exact model of the car, I posted pics to try to find out.

I've studied lots of Celica pics and they do seem different to this one.

It seems to have wide front wings, but not the wide bulge at the rear wing of the wide body although flared.

It has 7 inch Toyota wheels with room to spare.

As I said, I'm very new to Toyotas so I may be a little ignorant re models, If Dak is reading, do the pics clarify anything?

The door cards have a Badge reffering to a "premier sound system" or something like that, have other members cars got anything similar?

You can compare yours with mine a little better in this pic. Bear in mind i have spacers fitted to the rears.

hi,

Thanks for your comments,

I'm not looking for the replica look, just something mean and moody.

Just wish I could get some history for the car as the previous owner bought it as salvage and didn't get it on the road.

I have managed to get it driveable and as soon as I can get it pulled into line it will be MOT time.

Thanks Dak for the pic yours is a GT4 I believe, and looks like it has a bulging type rear wing.

Do the wide bodies have this bulge or are they just flared?

TBH the more i look the more i`m not sure. I`m just goin to pop out and take a photo from exactly the same angle as yours. That should make it easier.

Looking at it this way. Mine appears to have a convex durve above the flair where yours appears to be concave. But yours still looks wider in the arch than a standard 182.

Does it compare to this?

HI Dak,

those new pics make this a lot clearer.

As I suspected mine doesn't have the bulge, but does appear very flared.

A thread on Celica tech

clicky here

has this discussion going on which could fit my car, jus dunno

The black Gt4 sort of looks like mine, but the colourblack isn't the best to show detail.

I wonder if there is a database of VIN numbers.
