I broke down in my mr2 mkII t-bar yesterday, i got towned home. The AA looked at it and said the engine is missfiring. No compression on no3 cylinder. Thinks it could be possible faulty valves.

Anyone had anything similar? how much do you think this will cost to repair

thank in advance all

He was a brave man diagnosing “Faulty valves”, unfortunately it could be a number of things but as far as having no compression on No3 I’m afraid it doesn’t look good.

Anything from a sticking to a burnt out valve will involve removing the cylinder head this in its self is not cheap.

Did the breakdown happen suddenly and was there any noise/smoke?

Was it gradual over a period of time, again any noise/smoke?

I’ll try to help as much as I can but like I say it don’t look good :(
