Brake!

Hi Guys,

last week i change my front pads(EBC Green Stuff) and disc's(Standard Toyota), when i got them change they were fine, as soon as i pressed the brake pedal the brakes would kick in. But about 4 days ago i had to do an emergency stop and the ABS had to kick in, since them the brake pedal feels spongy and i have to press it quite hard for the car to stop. Anyone know what the problem is, brake fluid is topped up and has recently been changed.

Thanks

Have you bleed the brakes fully, as in no air bubbles in the lines.

Mine felt squashy as well recently, but after a sevice, now feel solid.

Ok, having new discs and pads does do this, and some £260 fitted :lol:

well the garage that changed the brakes also changed the fluid for me, is there anyway i can check to see if there is air in the lines if i take it to a garage?

They take a while to bed-in ..... can't remember the rough milage but there was a topic on it in the yaris section  !

Remember just because you have driven 250 miles doesn't mean that you have used them alot so give them a chane to bed-in

You are modding alot aren't you ;)

ok, thanks for the reply's,

i was just curious thats all, because when i change the pads and disc's @ the back a few months back, they settled in quite quickly.

But you would/will notice the front more than the back because of the weight distribution of the car and it's braking force/s and balance.

took about 500 miles for my black diamonds to bed in. Now they clamp like crocodiles and give you whiplash! well worth the money.

with regards to ebc greenstuff pads, I think they compress more than the OE ones so they feel spongy. They certainly did on my girlfriends starlet when she had it. its sort of a spongy feeling followed by the bite.

anything is better than the OE stuff. i personally think the black diamond pads are better than the ebc, having had both the black diamond dust is not as bad and the initial bite is better. the ebc's look good though!

all E12 corollas use the same pad, the difference is the carrier thats all. in fact i've got a spare set if anyone wants them!

so t-sport black diamonds or any other t-sport pads will fit all e12 with no problems or modifications on any kind?

yep thats correct. if you follow this link

http://www.blackdiamondperformance.com/brakes_toyota.htm

you'll see the part numbers for the corolla T sport, diesel and regular 1.6/1.4 are all the same (PP544 or PP545), if you look at the discs though you'll see there is a difference becasue of the larger caliper.

at first i thought there was a mistake but i crossreferenced it with my ferodo and EBC parts catalogues and they are all the same.

hope this helps
