The OPEN-AIRfilter, specially made for the aygo is on its way. I've had an email from K&N because I offered myself as a volunteer ;)

They are now busy with a kit for the peugeot 107 and when that works they will contact me to put it in my Aygo for testing :D

there are only 2 Gtti charade here in Malta and they are both off the road so if i get one of them i will fit the turbo on the aygo!

Would need a custom map to run it and possibly a separate controller or piggy back system but if you have the time (money) and patience then anythings possible !

Hi! I have a question that, which is the better? which gives more power? the simple sport air-filter, or the open-ait filter. Because I saw a picture of a K&N sport air filter, and it has the same place as the factory-made. I think the open-air filter is better...and it gives a little brazen sound for the car. :) What's your opinion?

( Today I will make photos of my Aygo, and I will put it )

the openairfilter will give more power

no with 0.6 psi would run on standard fuel map and everything standard

0.6PSI I take you mean 0.6bar which is about 17psi. That will mean the turbo will be putting in a lot more air and will need proper mapping otherwise it will run very lean and not worth the doing.

As a standalone mod neither will give any power increase no matter what anyone says or the companies claim - it's that simple. The open air filter or induction kit will maybe give more of an induction sound (which is good and way better that a silly loud exhaust) but can actually reduce performance and can be more affected by hot air being taken in from the engine (some system come with specifictic ducting to avoid this). You do these mods for the better induction sound and/or for the better filtering (and they tend to only need cleaning and not replacing).

i'm thinking to get the turbo from the smart roadster eheh but i'm also trying to see if a company of caraudio wants to equip my aygo for free and i only have to take the car to the shows :D

I dont know too much about engines, do you think the car will handle a turbo? Be awesome if it makes a diffence. On the other hand it will effect insurance, petrol, etc... Will it acually be worth it? Im not sure i'd want to ruin the low cost motoring. Might as well just buy a fast car instead?

That's my thoughts too but some just want to spend money on what they have and it's their choice even if it makes no sense. Then again if we were all sensible how dull a place would earth be eh (and the Aygo would certainly not look as good as it does either ;) )

I won't mess with the engine and probably will only put 15" alloys on Traceys Aygo instead of 16s due to the possible increase in the running costs and petrol use. We bought it to be cheap but also like to mod our cars and make them handle better so we'll have to see how other owners mods go and what effect they have to make an informed choice.

I've got 16inch as you know and it doesn't have an effect on my petrolusage ;)

1 bar = 14 psi so 0.6bar would be about 8psi the daihatsu 1ltr turbo has 9 psi as standard boost and at the turbo giving full boost it would go up to 1bar cos its only a small turbo! At 8 psi there will not be fuel changes or if there will be because the car would feel more airflow it would be slight as the ecu is not set to make big changes to the fuel flowing to the engine! Its not going to be big power but with the weight of the Aygo every little power increase would be very noticeable and the turbo mod is the one mod that gives the most power per pounds! so that be it

Yeh your right about the psi v's bar can't think where I got the 28 psi=1bar from my head is mince ! :ffs:

What power increase are you expecting from this then since there will be little difference in the fueling etc. ?You won't notice 1-3bhp increase, 5 or more bhp across the rev range will only feel like the engine is a bit more eager and if you manage 10bhp increase then you could have a good mod depending on the cost and how the turbo comes on boost. It's not just about the power and the turbo MAY well give bigger benefits in the torque which WILL be more noticable on a light car like the Aygo. Would be better if you could get the car on a rolling road before and after so you can see any gains properly otherwise it's all guess work with the risk of long term damage.

well when we modded a 150bhp car with a turbo it gave an 11bhp per 1 psi of boost with remapping the ecu so this without remapping ecu and the small bhp of the engine i would expect at least 4bhp per 1 psi = 32bhp @ 8psiboost and the aygo will be putting out 99bhp !The turbo is a small one so it will start pushing immediately not coming into boost as there will be no lag :yes::yes:

I'd be very very surprised if you got anything close to that with standard amp and fueling from such a small turbo and on the Aygo engine. Let me see the graphs of the results when you finish the job though.

yes im hoping of getting my hands on the Turbo kit first cos its a mission to find these 2 cars as they are off the road!

from the experience that i have on TD's, i would expect to have a greater increase in torque than in BHP's ..
