Driveshaft

My cv joint slipped off the drive shaft at the gear box side doing about 60mph. It worked it's way out the cup the CV joint sits in and I lost all drive with some nice noises too.

After a rebuild (with new retainig clips for the CV joint) there is a vibration of the car and a slight wobble from the steering wheel at about 50. I am thinking there is a bend in the drive shaft caused by the cv joint slipping out. I am getting a mate with a lathe to check the deviation in the shaft tomorrow. There is no play in ball joints bearings etc that i can feel.

Does anyone know if the drive shafts for the Gen 6 JDM 2.0l 3s-fe (1994) model are the same as the uk ones. I am hopeing they are all the same, with the exception being the GT4's

The 3s-fe engine is also fitted to carina's mr2's etc does anyone know if any of those shafts are the same?

Any help appreciated

hi,

From the Haynes manual it appears that there are 4 different driveshaft types depending on the engine.

It shows that it is only the 3s-fe one that has both left and right identical and appears to say that it is the same as the 2s-e, whichever model that is.

The length should be 17 1/2 inches.

The manual does not give any dates for the 2-se/3s-fe engines.
