As some of you might know my tubby is dying a slow painful death, and as i've had it over 4 years and spent a fortune on it i'm calling it quits and getting a newish car.

It leaks oil and black smoke comes out of it when you even slighty touch the accelerator, oh and the ecu fault light comes on and it even tells me it's over heating whith the buzzer warning your hear from the engine too, but when i check it out it's fine, and when i turn the ignition back on the temp is fine  :ffs:

I cant moan because i have treated it like poo doing all the track days I do.... and basically nurburgring finished it off....

So theres no way i'm selling it, I'll have to much of a guilty concious bodging it up, and then sticking "one careful driver" in autotrader :P

my options are:

Px it; they will give me f all for it probably 1k.

or strip it down...... obviously i wont be selling the engine.

if you peeps where in the same situation as me what would you do???

You could always just stick it in an auction.

PX will give you bugger all for it at a dealership, best bet as suggested is to chuck it in an auction, all they will do is drive in and out of the auction house, could get lucky :D

auction sounds like a good idea.

how do i find out where the nearest auction house is?

Stu have a look on Yell.com under car auctions it will tell you all that are near you.

me too depending on what is actually wrong with it!

well the oil leak is from somewhere near the driveshaft, the black smoke must be knackered valve stem seals (already!!!!!!) and the ecu could be anything??, so that will have to be diagnosed??

oh and too rub salt into the wound i've gone and ripped the sidewall of one of my brand new toyo's with a 10" nail whilst giving it a test drive :ffs:

Anyways....

I am trying to fix it myself for now, as It'll a be a few months before I have the spare cash to buy the sort of car i'm looking for.

But when I have the cash and even if the tubby is running ok I will still be getting shut of it.

thanks for your replies

after having it for so long, and had so much fun in it. would you really be able to see it go?

if you could afford another car i think you should keep the MR2 and fix it yourself for some random fun. it's fun and very satisfactory when you do stuff yourself.

thats what i would do if ya asked me
