Gt4 Mot Failure

There's been a GT4 on eBay for a while which didn't sell at it's last price so has been relisted with a lower starting bid.

The bloke wants £2900 For a Red gen 6 L reg GT4 import which has failed it's MOT on a couple of bits - mainly front brake pipes - front passenger seatbelt not securely fitted and fog light not working.

They don't sound too bad - what do you lot think? Almost seems too cheap??

You can get a clean tax/mot'd GT4 for £3500 !

Adam showed me one a wee while back , insisting i should buy it ! I'm sure it was a guy from the GT4 owners club too :)

I guess it depends on how much those repairs would cost ? looks nice though

I've heard the brake pipes are a !Removed! :ffs:

Personally I would buy it without getting quotes for the work first, give Ian@Toyauto Centre a ring and see what he says.

As cris said though T&T ones can be had for not a lot more. Plus if things like that are failing you can bet they'll be more to follow

yeah the one that worried me was the - seat belt not securely fitted. Does this mean it's rotted away at the mounting point?? I'm not 100% convinced that I want a GT4 but it'd definatley be fun :)

chris - if you see a nice clean black one for 3.5k let me know :)

My 2p`s worth.

Well you`ve got to give the guy 10/10 for effort. But i think it`s just a little iffy. Just seems to be not quite what it should, MOT aside.

Why replace the front seats. The standard ones are good. (Heavy, but good).

Looks OK. But i suspect it`s not been driven with too much respect. Reference the kerbed wheels.

Someone told him clutch is capable of running 450BHP. Yes ???...... But has he been driving it like it already has 450BHP???? You know what some people are like. :!Removed!:

As for MOT. Nothing here to cause alarm.

1) Offside rear fog light not working. (Easy)

2) N/S front seat belt insecurely fixed. ( No corrosion mentioned. Just a fixing issue )

3) O/S inner front constant velocity joint gaiter split. (Easy)

4) N/S front brake hose excessively deteriorated. (Not difficult, provided you get the right pipes. I believe there are two types????)

5) O/S Front brake hose excessively deteriorated. (As above)

6) O/S rear exhaust system has a mounting that does not support the exhaust system. (Easy)

Is the vendor close enough to meet and have a look at the car??? Obviously, you can usually tell a lot more about how the car has been treated when you actually meet someone and get them to take you for a test drive.

IMO it`d be worth it if you get it cheap enough AND it`s not been thrashed to within an inch of it`s life.:thumbsup:

Oh!.. And whats that about the gearbox??????? Amateur.
