Which Corolla To Buy?

Hi

I am thinkin of purchasing a second hand corolla. With reading the oil consumption problems on the VVTI engines am i best of purchasing a pre VVTI corolla?

Any useful comments appreciated. :yes:

What type of Corolla are you after mate? Mine is for sale for £2k ono in the for sale section. It's a pre VVTi model and it doesn't use a drop of oil between services. Best engineered and most reliable car I've ever owned.

pre 2000 one as looks like VVTI engines are v problematic! :help:

I dont think that a small number of cars burning slightly too much oil is a reason to abandon a whole range of cars! I owned a 1.6 T3 for two years and didnt have a single issue. I've got friends with the same 1.6 VVTi engine in a facelift 2000 Corolla and thats still going strong with 150k on it now. My parents have a T3 with the 1.4 VVTi in it and thats never had a problem.

Well theres a few positive stories to counter balance all the negative ones on here ;) I also found the performance on the 1.6's to be far greater than I expected it to be for that engine size and the insurance is very reasonable.
