Brake Clonk Noise

Recommended Posts

Out of interest does anyone out there get a clonk from the brakes at slow speed, I took it into main dealers and they knew immeadiatly, said clonking brakes are common. :(

I believe it is still under warranty. purchased 2005

The clonk (one clonk) occurs when I very slowly go forward and brake, then if I reverse the same happens.

Other than that all is fine, apart from the !Removed! head banging shelf now cured. :ffs:

Its the rear brake pads moving in the calipers. Some copper slip on the back of the brake pads will cure. Toyota never put any on from new

Just bought my 2003 NRG and my brakes have also developed a clonk at slow speeds, it's like a popping noise as if I have driven over a full packet of crisps and the packets popped! Is this similar to the noise others get? Will Toyota put the copper slip on, or can it be done by myself? If so, where do I buy it from?

I to had the knock from the rear brakes at low speed, when i had the vehicle service ,i asked them to take a look at it, they also copper slipped the rear brake pads, but a month later the knock is back....i feel its time just to live with it, or change the pads for anorther brand ( blueprint -ADL ) .

Has anyone ever changed the pads with better quality ones and cured the clonk? If so, what make pads did you use, and where did you buy them?
