Two New Black Rubber Round Things...

Hi Yaris T Sport owners,

I have recently purchased a lovely Yaris TS in thunder grey (52 reg, 3 door, phase one shape) which still has the original Bridgestone Potenza tyres - it has only done 10K :) I need two new front tyres. Can anybody recommend some good all weather tyres to get? I have a friend who swears by Toyo Proxes for his different Mazdas, Hondas and Toyotas. Would this be a good choice? I would like something that wears well and is good in all weathers especially the wet. I read the Toyos help significantly reduce the road noise - any truth in this? I am located between Birmingham and Warwick so if anybody can recommend somewhere local that would be good or should I internet/mail order them and get somebody to fit them?

Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say Toyo Proxes T1-R mate. They grip extremely well in the dry and do a pretty good job in the wet too. Wear pretty quickly but it really all comes down to how much of a maniac you are on the roads!

I'd buy them off the internet and then get a local place to fit them mate!

P.S. Welcome to the club! :)

BF Goodrich G-Force Profilers are a very good tyre with excellent wet-weather grip, but the Toyo T1-R's are just superb. The dry grip is amazing, the road noise is sooo much better than the other tyres iv had and the wet-weather grip is excellent. Plus, they're dirt cheap. (compared to other performance tyres)

I have Toyo T1-Rs too and I'd recommend them - Had them on the previous car too and they were even better :P but that car had 205 width ;)

I've got Vredestein SportTrac 2's on mine, they sound like a budget option but they are pretty good, especially in the wet weather.

T1-Rs.... much better than the T1-S aswell, as i managed to kill a set of them on a trip to NUR and ripping round Brunters.... the T1-Rs still have around 1/3 to 1/2 tread depth left :D so they wear alot better

(thats on the MR2 mind)

Vredsteins aren't budget as far as I'm concerned. I have the Snowtrac2 s for winter and they're fab. Proxy T1-Rs are great for the summe rthough
