dear all,

has anyone experienced or heard such thing with avensis ? i went to holiday and when i came back after 9 days the car did not start up... it stayed at the service overnight during which they charged the Battery... the guys at the service told me that it is normal because there are lots of electronic stuff which consume electricity also when the car is stopped ... and they told me to disconnect the Battery next time i go to vacation...

still it does not sound OK to me that Battery can be drained off completely in just 9 days ...

any feedback would be appreciated

regards

Ken

With the immobiliser and other anti theft devices on I am told the Battery will be drained. I left my car a week and it started ok but my TRC & VRC warnings came on. They went off after I drove a few miles stopped the engine and restarted it. I was advised not to put anti theft devices on if the car is garaged but I am loathe to do that. I think your dealer is correct about the Battery going down.

I think there is a fault. I just left my 2005 T2 for a month whilst I was in Australia and it started first kick. Some years ago, I had an Audi 100 which behaved just like you describe and the garage never ever found the problem. There are some electronics running 24/7 like the clock, anti-theft etc but its only milliamps and should not be problem after a reasonable run has charged the Battery.
