Facia Adapter Or Blanking Plate

I have a 2000 Avensis Auto

Is it possible to now get a facia adaapter to allow me to replace my old (came with car) Sony Double Din stereo with a single DIN unit or even get some sort of blanking plate to hide the empty space?

I asked a similar question a year ago when i was having problems with my Sony stereo (Radio) and the answer then seem to be no but I was wondering if this has changed over thecourse of the year. I really dont want to spend big money on a Double Din unit as a £60 Halfords special will do me fine and the old unit is now definately beyond repair. I could pick something up on eBay for around £60 but I dont want to spend that sort of money to find it breaks done after a couple of months as well - failing all else i can see me cutting a bit of hard plastic and attaching it with lots of blue tack

Many thanks - Cant tell if this is actually the part i need or not. The autoleads site itself still seems to be saying there isnt an adapter available but on the other sites selling the FP-11-01 it simply says for Toyota. May have to ring one of the sites personally tomorrow and see.

If the worst comes to the worst I am going to have to end up buying the cheapest double din i can find (currently a kenwood at around £199) - however being a mechanical/electrical numpty i dont even know if these of the shelf double din units will fit my Avensis.

I got this problem too but ive alredy fitted my single din cd player so now i can see a big hole in the lower part of the dash, but at least i can pop my stereo front off now and hide it from them thieving toerags.

I know a way to cure the problem, change the whole trim kit ie. centre stereo surround, side vents surround, driver and passenger door switch surround from wood effect to the silver one found in the "sr" model as that has a single din opening, but i bet thats an expensive option from Mr T.
