I'm really enjoying my Aygo, however I'm not at all impressed with the quality of the sound system. I purchased my Aygo with the 6 speaker sound system and I would like to replace the four main Speakers...two in the dash and one in each rear door. I see that you've specified the speaker size that fits the Aygo. Do you have any idea how much power the system can handle without using an additional amplifier? Thanks!

Its about 13 x 4 watts, not terribly great.

It's not as simple as that but surprisingly it's safer to over power Speakers than under power them just make sure that when you turn them up they don't distort the sound and you'll be okay. The only way to increase the power of the system is by external amplification (either and amp or graphic equalizer with amp) or by replacing the head unit. Filtering the sound to the Speakers will also increase power handling but will mean that they will sound even tinnier and you would ideally need to add some thing to reproduce the bass. It all depends what you are prepared to do and pay.

Thanks for the input. I was looking for a simple solution to getting some bass in the sound....as there is so little in the factory system. But, it seems it will be more complicated than just replacing the Speakers.

The easiet way to add bass if you already have front and rear Speakers is to add a sub. You can get active sub boxes that you simply connect up. I'm adding an Alpine SWD-1600 under the drivers seat (in the same manner as the Toyota option but a lot cheaper) but other options are here - Active Subs

Just make sure you add bass filters to the other Speakers and they will be more effective too.

I am also amplifying the fronts and filtering them using the amp so the system is louder operall too.
