Scary!

Driver tries to enter pits and sets car to speed limit setting...

"Do you really want to enter pits?"

[Yes] [No]

He'd be out the other end before he knew it!

Every time they do some complicated driving the car will slow down and become sluggish and unresponsive until they stop, turn the engine of and start it back up again.

Sure thats the right link? :s, seems to link to a piece about Bridgestone tyres being the exclusive supplier from 2008 for F1...

Sigh, this soundbite society.

Fourth paragrah down. Oh sod it...

Computer software giant Microsoft was chosen as single supplier for engine electronic control units.

W2K's gotta be the exception to that theory IMO.

Hate to put an end to your random MS bashing thread, but the 'MES' part of the 'Microsoft MES' bid that won the contract to supply the ECUs is McLaren Electronic Systems, an independent company under the McLaren umbrella that supplies all the current F1 teams anyway ;)

Oh and besides, while I disagree with a lot of things MS does (their pricing and anti-competitive behaviour mainly), the actual OS itself isn't bad. I prefer Win2k to XP myself as I don't need all the garbage that's built into XP and just hogs resources.

TBH, I actually think that MS are a half decent company. I just get to see a lot of crashes and BSODs due to the nature of my work but I must admit that I would say around 95% of them are caused by people loading up with cackware like "Atomic Clock" and Weather software. When you bring up the process list and there are 45+ processes sapping away at the CPU then it's time to switch off and slap the user repeatedly with a networking manual.

That and badly programmed software that doesn't tidy up after itself.
