Avensis T4 Tyre Pressures

Hope someone can help. I've just bought a new Toyota Avensis T4. The tyre

size is 215/45 R17. According to the handbook the tyre pressure should be

35psi for this size of tyre, but the mechanic at the toyota garage says

they should be 31psi. I've tried looking on google, I've looked in the

brochure but no joy. Can some kind soul give me the definitive answer.

Many thanks

Dave

Hi, Welcome to TOC

Firstly i think you might have more luck asking this in the Avensis forum ;)

But i can't see there being a problem running either pressure tbh, 35psi would probably save you some fuel over 31psi especially if you do a lot of motorway miles

Yep. This was a subject for debate on the Avensis forums. I have a 2.0 D4D and it seems to run best at 34 to 36 psi. WHen I had the tyres swapped over to the alloys, the chaps at the tyre place pumped them up to 31 psi as well and it didn't feel as responsive around the twisty roads on the way home.
