Changeing Standard Sony Stereo

:D Hi all, i was wondering if the standard sony stero on my car can be changed at all, im desperate to put an mp3 player in, can it be done?, thx all kind regards MTB :D

Hi bro forgot to say to you earlier, i went to Halfords but the dude who fits the stereos was out for lunch, another guy said to me if i need to find about it i was to phone the stereo guy up and take a pop back up to see him:].

Is your 2000 facelift model, if it is then you will find it hard to get facia adapter, when I looked a couple of years ago could not get one. Can't remember the name of company in UK that make all the interface cables but I remember they said they did not stock and at that time did not intend to stock.

If it is first avensis model then swaping in new standard DIN size unit is a doddle.

I have replaced mine with a kenwood unit and 10 disc changer in boot - very easy to do, although I did need an adapter for the headunit. Pretty much a case of slide out old and slide in new.

Same here. I just replaced mine with a JVC CD/MP3 special from Argos, went down to my local car audio specialist for the correct adapter lead (they new which one right away). 5 Min job otherwise. :) Now very chuffed with the results but recon I will upgrade the Speakers now as well, I find the Avensis ones a bit lacking.
