have just discovered that my kickdown cable is disconnected when i connected it the accelerator pedal wouldnt budge, anyone have any clue what i should do its only running on the accelerator cable and its affecting the performance of the car ( Eg 30mph up a hill whats that about) please any advice welcomed

for a fuel concious driving, you won't notice any problems. but if you want to quickly accelerate by stepping the accelerator pedal to full, you will notice that your RPM will increase slow. since the job of the the kickdown is to downshift your gears to pick-up high RPM more quickly, then upshift later an now with a faster RPM picking-up.

suggest you replace your kick-down cable if possible to do it.

maybe for a temporary solution, you could try experiment your Overdrive switch. like when going uphill, turn it off, then reaching at high Rpm, turn it on.
