53 Plate T3x

hi guys, just bought a t3x on a 53 plate Pick it up end July. Never had a Toyota before so whats the Avensis like is there any pitfalls, anything to look out for, when i road tested it it performed reasonably well.

things to look out for,

If it's a 1.8 VVTi engine - heavy oil consumption,

condensation in the headlamps,

rattly noise from steering column

flaking alloy wheels

corroded wheel bolts (some have had theirs replaced under warranty, they refused mine however saying it will simply rust again).

As mentioned check if the headlamps were changed under warrenty by Toyota otherwise will cost over £400

to replace. (as a good will gesture)!!!!!!!!!!!

Also be aware of fuel release cap solenoid, mine went cost of replacement £78 total cost for toyota to supply and fit £192

To change headlight bulbs at dealers £70 a time.

Radial Ply Tyres very noisy on most roads.

Front fog lamps misting up; mine were changed 3 times under warranty. I have also headlights and bulb holders changed under warranty for misting up.

SAT NAV. Beware always check your map route as well.

Good car though; these are minor problems compared to other makes.

My sons 1.8 Avensis 03 plate no faults to report on that car at all.

I have had mine for 9 months and is also an 03 plate.

Apart from the things mentioned it is actually a lovley car. Very big boot, roomy interior and a a very good cd player.
