Hi all

I have a 98 Corolla SR (AE111) which has been lowered and am thinking of buying some 16" tyres for it. Currently on 15" :crybaby:

Do you have 16" tyres? If so, what is your offset?

The original 14" alloys that came on the car from Toyota were 42mm offset. My 16" alloys have a 40mm offset and I'm running 195 x 45 x 16 tyres - also tried 205 tyres and they were worse. Even with these tyres and the car lowered on Eibach springs the rear arches had to be modified. I tried 38mm offset with 205s and those would hardly turn in the wheel arches.

Sorry, I meant currently on 14". The original 5 spoke wolfrace ones.

Basically have seen a set of 16" wheels with ET35 offset. Wondered if I would have to mod the arches for them to fit. If so, do you have to touch the metal work or do you just cut away the plastic liner.

I guess its not looking good if ET38's were rubbing a lot.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

If fitting '15's on a AE111 Corolla (1997 onwards) to keep same rolling radius then 195/55 TYRES will be required, not 195/50 as for earlier Corollas on 15's.

P.S. 17's on a 1984 - 2002 Corolla can mess up handling and prematurely were front suspension components!

I have a 98 corolla running on 17s with 205/40s and i only get slight rubbing on the rear when going over big bumps, handling is amazing, then again i do have the koni shocks and apex springs

I think they has an offset of 38, they are a set of team dynamics 'mirage'
