Oil Consumption Rate On Diesel Avensis 2.0 D4d

I've read posts on here previously about problems with excessive oil consumption is some Toyota petrol engines. Was it only petrol engine affected or does this apply to Diesel as well? What would a normal rate of consumption be for a 2 litre Diesel D4D Avensis (2002 model)?

Anyone know the volume of oil needed to go from the low to high indicators on the oil dipstick for this car?

As far as a well known oil-burning issue goes it's only the 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 VVTi engines in all Toyota's that are affected.

The only known problem for diesels is the flywheels failing.

Thanks. So how often should I need to add oil?

Well to give you some sort of idea I have a 2002 D4D & it uses such a small amount it's not even worth topping it up between services (10K), still well above the low level so just less than a litre I'd say. The low level warning has never illuminated. Mine is on 68.5K & did have a flywheel failure at 57K which was fortunatly paid for by the warrenty company, it's also had a new clutch which I did myself, managed to get a genuine Toyota one off eBay for next to nothing which was helpful!
