My gti failed it's MOT in rusty sills. And it's like they've rusted a little bit back into the rear arch aswell.

I'm really considering right now whether the cars going to be economical to repair. Gutted :ffs:

Just thought I'd share, :crybaby:

Right, what you need to do is remove the bodykit to examine properly.

I presume you mean rear of sill (which I am now hearing a lot of due to age of the vehicles).

Unfortunately what you need to do is evaluate if the corrosion has 'crawled' round (so to speak) and gone and affected the inner sill which in turn may have weakend the torsion/!Removed! bar mounting.

If it's outersill then a patch will surfice but if inner is affected you may have to do a bit of striping suspension off to get at parts.

The work to do will be naturally up to you but remember what rest of car might be like next year

any thing is possible with time and money just depends on how much you want to save the car???

Twincam.GTi - it was the rear of the sill.

Yeah it's the time and money I'm concerned about!! :( I just want the thing legal!!!

After a few days to think about it I'm feeling a bit more optomistic. I think the tester got me down a bit by telling me LOTS that it was scrap!

I'll not be able to do anything for a couple of weeks but I'm gonna give it a good strip down and check next time I get a chance. I'll be sure to put up some pics :)
