All,

We're having unseaonaly hot weather here in Scotland at the moment :) , so the climate control is working overtime.Compared to my Celica (which is bog standard air con as far as I know), it doesn't seem as cold, even when on the lowest setting (LOW it says on the dash which is below 16 degrees).

I'm assuming some owners on here are in the South, and have much greater use than this control than me :D so can you tell me if your RAV can go really cold? Like I say, it's ok, but nothing to shout home about.

Thanks

Hi Sandy

I have a 2005 XTR 4D4 . Drove quite a few miles today and the aircon was spot on , it worked fine.Leave all the windows shut as well as the sunroof. The settings are as in the above photo ,A/C light on , the window display with arrows off and the top light on for the four choices on .

Hope this helps

llith,

With the weather you are getting, hotter than me, that must be what I can expect. The settings you have in the photo are what I have-sometimes put it to foot and front to cool down my feet.

Just need to see how it goes-even we are expecting 30+ up here in the next few days B)

 I have a '98 Rav4 3-door with air con (not climate control). I also had a Celica Gen 6 import with a/c. The Celica was colder.

I have just had the Rav re-gassed. It is cold enough I guess, with temperatures in the 90's here in Berkshire but not chilly cold like the Celica or a friend's BM.

So perhaps that's it then, cool not chilly a/c?

Haven't got a problem with mine. I usually start with the A/C on both face and feet, but after about 10 mins put onto face only because the wife's size 3 tootsies get too cold!

(My RAV is only 4 months old, spent 2 weeks in Scotland in June, so haven't used the A/C much, since I got the car! :D )

Hi guys :) ,i've got a Corolla'05 and think that the air-con is not cold enough. Here's my issue:

Well,

We topped an amazing 27 degrees today-far too hot.Only good thing is we have plenty of water up here so a dip in the kids paddling pool cools you down B)

Looking at the other post on the Corolla, I did have the recirc on today whilst driving (helps my hayfever a bit). Seems to be colder with that on? so I'll leave it on that and see how it goes

Cheers

Found mine is cold enough, and coping well with the hot weather down here london way..

That said however, its not nearly as good as my previous car (Golf GTI). I tend to leave it on a good couple of degrees lower setting than the golf, and if you turn it off when the temp is good then it gets really hot insite almost instantly. I've put this down to just having much more air space inside the RAV compared to the golf, its got to cycle much more to get the temp down.

Generally I have it set to 18, on the really hot days I drop it another 1 or 2.

once you get to an ambient temperature you are happy with , try flicking it onto recirc air , this helps air con immencely also your petrol/derv consumption , because the air is allready cool the air con dont have to work too hard , keep all windows and sunroof shut , also tinting of the rear windows helps to keep out the suns rays also keeping the insides alot cooler.

Air con on my XTR not a patch on that of my previous Ford Focus. Now that did cold. Had it checked out at the 10000 mile service (outrageous £146 for service) and they said it was ok.
