Hi All,

My wife's had an Aygo since March - the 5 door sport MMT petrol version. She loves the car and it is fun to drive.

I've noticed that there is quite a lag when the auto box changes from first to second - the engine seems to loose quite a bit of power whilst the change takes palce. The rest of the gears are fine.

Toyota said this is normal - does anyone else have this problem ?

Cheers

Col

I drive the Yaris MMT and do not seem to get that problem.........................maybe it is something to do with the three cylinder engine fitted to the Aygo

Welcome to TOC

If the gear ratios on the MMT are the same or similar to the manual then there is a bigger jump between 1st and 2nd compared to the other gears so this may be the reason.

i test drove the mmt and thought the changes seemed a bit dodgey even in manual mode. even though i was going to get the manual anyway. but i still prefer the manual as you can smell a bit of clutch on the occasional in the mmt version.

 Not if it is set up and working correctly

Think the problem is the gap in the ratios between first and second, rather than the MMT bit :(

it is really noticable when overtaking uphill with a passenger in the car, Toyota know it too because the gearbox will rev the engine to 6500 :)on that change while its never over 6000 on the other changes :( unless you override it ;)

Smelt the clutch once when the car had less than a thousand miles on it, that was on Leeds ring road going for it, and traffic planners don't have a clue/don't like cars (delete one if you think necessary).

The MMT bit i love though, and I drive it mostly round the country, when coming up to a bend if you stamp on the gas for less than half a second the gearbox will change to the lowest possible gear and hold it for approxiamately 10-15seconds or you accelerate so it needs a higher gear, (if you press the gas gentler it changes up as you lift off like a normal auto.

Hope you like yours as much you like mine
