Service Schedule

So I've nearly had my car for a year - its due a service/mot.

Bought the car from an inchcape dealer so they called me saying the service was due and gave me a price £250 inc VAT  as it was a full 2hr service apparantly.

So I decide to call the local dealer for a quote before commiting to anything which was half the price plus they have a discount for gold club members here.

Inchscape insist I need a 4th full service, the local one says I need an Intermediate 5th.

I've got four service stamps in the book.

Car is a Jan 2003 - 52 Reg

service 1 - sep 2003 - 11032 Miles - local dealer

service 2 - march 2004 - 20095 Miles - local dealer

service 3 - march 2005 - 38846 Miles - local dealer

service 4 - may 2005 - 39574 Miles - Inchcape

The next service period in the book is 50,000 Miles / 5 Years - Intermediate.

I'm still at 46k - so..... does it even need a service?

yup, needs a service as the corolla also has a 12 month window so even though you havent hit the mileage for service its more than 12 months from your last service so it is due....

Hi chaps - first post so please be gentle...

I'm thinking of buying a leggy CTS - an 03 car, with the best part of 70k on the clock - at what point do Toyota recommend I change the cambelt over? And is there anything else to look for - I gather the service intervals are every 10k miles / once a year? Any advice much appreciated.

There is no cambelt - it's a chain. I believe they are good for 100K.

Service interval is 10K.

Thanks - that puts that worry to rest quite easily. I'll let people know how I get on - I'm seeing a couple of CTSs at the weekend...

Is this price reasonable folks?

1. MOT £44.15

2. 50,000 mile intermediate service £95.00 including vat.

£139 - 10% Gold Discount = £125

I'm all for saving money but I'm useless at doing anything to do with engines, plus it might put people off come resale time?
