17" Alloys Ae82 Gt

AVE just bought some 17 " alloys for my corolla gt but the springs are touching the tyres at the back ave bin told 17 should go on nicely, but the spring plate is resting on top of the tyre WHAT DO I DO.

what if i put spacers on the hub but then i dont have any thread left on the bolt to put the nut on

What size of tyres do you have?.. it sounds like the tyre profile is too high

For corolla's upto 2001, 205/40x17 are recomended.. on corollas 2002 onwards it's 215/40x17 that is recomended.

What is the offset of the wheel? it should be between 35-45.

38 - 40 is normally the most common.

As for fitting spacers.. what this will do is bring the full unit (wheel and tyre) forwards away from the car by 5mm (or whatever size spacer you get) you are right in saying that you will need different nuts/studs to hold the wheel on as the threads would be 5mm too short, ALSO the wheel would loose support from the hub itself and the car's weight would then be supported by the wheel nuts/studs.. not advisable as they aren't designed for that purpose.
