Hi all, I've just moved out to Cyprus and had to buy myself a car in a hurry and ended up with a 1992 Cynos. I've never seen before in the UK but it looked fairly nice and was cheap enough to pay cash. I've looked on the internet for some general info on this car but there doesn't seem to be a whole host out there. Can anyone give me any info at all about it - is it a Cynos A or B I've read about, what's the diff? I see peeps have trouble getting parts so do starlet parts fit mostly? Are there any common problems or things to look out for?

Also, what group in the UK is it? I'm paying £84 for my insurance out here! :D

Hi mate,

Welcome to TOC.

Sorry I dont' know an awful lot about the Cynos ( A or B ) but there are a few people here who have them, I'm sure that someone will be along soon who's more help than me!

if you can find the Frame number i'll tell you if its a Alpha or Beta.

More than likly its a Beta with the 5efhe - as the Alpha's were not exported in great numbers.

On the boot lid does it have any lettering after the word Cynos???

No, someone's removed it all. On the plus side they've saved me the effort by adding a 4" tailpipe and a k&n 57i kit :)

Will find the chassis no and post it

Ok,

Best PM me the number.

THere will be a frame number and the chassis number - all i need is the Frame number - i.e E-EL44-DCMVH

I'm over in Larnaca. Bad news though, detonated my engine on the way back from agia napa at the weekend. New engine, labour and full service is going to cost me about £500CYP Does this seem reasonable to you guys?

well that works out to around 600 GBP.

I'll see you doing the finikoudes circuit then? :)

Not sure I'll get too much choice on what engine goes in unless anyone knows a goos place to source one. Also need it to be done as quick as poss as the whole of cyprus shuts down for august I hear?

The mechanic has quoted £635 inc VAT for the new engine all in. Can you recommend a good mechanic in larnaca that I can try instead?

Cheers,

If you know/heard of Nastama? his mechanic is awesome, that guy's name is Christos, he does tuning of evos, skylines and supras basicly anything powerful u see in larnaca and villages around it, most prolly they been to Christos :) i suggest u go there, to be sure just drp by Nastama and ask him to help you out, he'll take u to the guy and stuff.

And yeh thing about august is true, most of Cyprus will be on holiday and mostly everything closed :P so u better get it done quick.

P.S. i doubt you can see me much down the finikoudes circuit, though i do that form time to time when bored (go 2-3 rounds with bass) lol most of the time im in napa, petrol costs a lot driving there all the time but its sooo worth it, rather spend the money then stya in larnaca and get myself bored to death.

so have u done it?

hey bulldog, not heard of that guy but someone recommended a guy who's doing the lot for £350 inc vat, apparently I'd dropped the big end and the engine was just totally shagged. Should be ready for wednesday but I won't hold my breath
