Lucida Estima 2.2td Head Gasket.

Hello there, my Lucida has been for MOT and failed on Emissions (Thats all though!!). Garage says head gasket is gone or "on its way out" is there exact words. It does not overheat and no oil in coolant or coolant in oil but it does lose coolant very slowly. Car still starts and runs fine. When it gets to temp you do notice a bluey white smoking, not terrible but you can see it when accelerating to higher revs (No smoke at idle). Garage used a diesel additive which has stopped most of the smoking to be honest but they are still reasonably sure it is the head gasket. I have heard that they are quite common for gaskets and was just looking for confirmation of this. I am also quite capable round an engine and have already seen that many of the members have done gaskets at their homes and if there are any pointers before I tackle it.
