Avensis, Piggy-back Mod Question.

Hey! in need of a little advise!

I currently own a Toyota Avensis 2001 car, automatic, with a non vvti 3S-FE engine. My question is, im thinking of tuning my car's engine just a bit. I read on the web that the best and cheapest engine upgrade is a piggy-back upgrade (Oxygen sensor upgrade). Would this damage my engine or make it worn out faster in any way? And does anyone has advice on engine tuning an Avensis?

I have fitted a K&N air filter and noticed a significant improvement. I am looking to fit a mod that claims to increase BHP by 15. This works by fooling ECU into thinking its cold air coming in all the time. I will post results when I fit it.

Erm I've seen this 'mod' your refering too. I would seriously advise against this.

Why is this?. The only thing I can think of is that it claims toadjust the firing angle. as long as it doesnt pink it ought to be ok. Unless anyone knows different?

I think I may have answered the question I posed.

Great artical explains the mod in detail. Ill fit it just to see wether it does something out of a morbid facination and the fact I have paid money.

Well mod arrived. As I suspected just a resistor in abox. Big warning on back of packet. Do NOT run without super unleaded. Pinking could cause engine damage. Did not fit.

I have decided that my mid life crisis needed a cure. Have bought a Skoda Octavia vRS. That should be fast enough. So the Avensis 2.0 GLS Estate has to go. See it in Auto Trader. :(
