Anyone know of a good mechanic who thinks they can help me putting in a 4age 20 valve into my yaris?

try Ian at toysport in nottingham, he stuffed the 3S into Kens avensis and has done loads to help Dawesy with the 3S in his rolla

well i did my own but ian is indeed the king of the 3s engine.

personaly i wouldnt bother with the 20v as there arnt enough goodies out there to make them much faster than a 4A-GZE. id go that way if i were you or the starlet 4E-FTE. there is also kevin in droitwich he did john's (AE111SR) 4A-GZE transplant.

Glanza transplant is better option only needs slight mod to front bumper

What about wiring etc etc.

Not a custom loom have to fabricated, or bodged out of the two?

youll have to use both looms, the original ECU will have to stay to do all the crap like the dash etc... the new ECU for the engine

yep wiring is going to be a bit of a mare. modern ecus dont just control the engine they run alternators, ABS,aircon, dash, and a load of other bits you wouldnt expect

i know ur probably thinking why on earth put a diff engine in? well have u ever thought that the 1.5 engine i just way too weak? sure its torqy but compared to an EK9 ( old model honda civic typre R ) which is a 1.6 ... its like comparing chocolate and Sh*t. reason why i want this change is cause i think the yaris has more potential. rather than just get a new car i've been thinking of other ways to make the car faster without making it difficult to drive.already done manifold, exhaust, suspension, and all the basics incluing pulleys and flywheel. a turbo in this small car i think will be too difficult to drive. supercharger... not enough. compressor? same as supercharger. fine tuning...theres not much more than can be done to the t sport engine since its already been tuned to nearly the max by toyota. no 1.5 that i know on the market does 0-60 in 8.7 -9 sec. infact for a 1.5 its very fast. ( don't start with the RX7 being a 1.3 lol ) . so have any of u thought of wanting more power without changing car? if so let me know ... and how to do it.

i agree with you chucking in a different engine is the best way to improve a car, but it makes sense to get an engine that can be tuned further for when you get bored of the power, and you will. i started off being happy with a 300bhp 3S-GTE conversion but the power soon became dull so its now on its way to 450-500bhp. god only knows what will happen when im bored of that.

glanza engine would be a good swa. fairly easy to get hold of and a lot of tuning potential. and its a 1.3 IIRC so cheaper tax too

i think your talking cobblers refering the the 1.5 as rubbish!

no one has found the true potential of this engine yet or what its actually capable of

I agree.

its not until you have a block crack in half because it cant stand the big bangs going on inside due to all that turbo boost & huge injectors that you know the limits

mind you, I think you reach traction issues way before the engine will reach limits.

its just dependant on the budget, surely.. everyone here is running ~140bhp on their superchargers & turbo's... but thats because they haven't shelled out on the low compression internals to go much above 6psi.

I personally dont even see the point of supercharging mine as it costs 50% of the value of my car!!

lol yeah traction issues. hence why i said it will be difficult to drive cause a turbo in a little car is just too much of a kick to handle on turns in my opinion. but honestly its only a 1.5 and as i said there can't be that much higher of a limit it can be taken to? or is there?

plus hey Jaxx... u got an mr2 right? u notice the huge power difference? plus theres more that u can do to the mr2 than there is to the yaris. right now its got to the point where it feels like i'm messing with a car thats pushed to its max limits and even if a turbo goes in it still wouldn't put it down to 6 secs or less.( Note even the Yaris RS isn't anywhere near 6 seconds. ) just kinda getting fed up of getting dusted by type R's lol.

the turbo era F1 cars were turbo 1.5's and they had over 1500bhp for qualifying

Yeah, I reckon a small turbo wouldnt be difficult to drive, it'd rock - fast spool up being the thing I'd mostly want, not ridiculous power (I cant stand all these tuning companies with 800 - 900bhp Evo's, that do SQUAT until they get to 7000rpm and then it all goes mental for 1000rpm and then its on the limiter.. its so stooopid!!)

The main thing with increased power on a Yaris would be to get a 1.5 Limited Slip diff put in, to help with traction - that and of course, always run with decent tyres :)

personally I think it'd be great fun - you just need a turbo setup that doesn't suddenly give you a wallop of power @ something over 3grand that sets the tyres alight - something a bit more progressive and less laggy would be ideal (I think its called a supercharger  )

and on a different way of sorting this out, if you have the budget to fit a turbo / super & the engine internals (low comp. pistons etc) you probably have the budget to fit a traction control unit that detects wheelspin from the ABS sensors while you're at it :D (although TC is really rather lame in my opinion - its what the accelerator pedal is for!)

yes.... and the 3SGTE engine must be around 20 years old now (maybe more), so thats 20 years of tuning, race/rally engineering and development behind it, thats all the 1NZ needs... someone to bite the bullet and push it to its limits :)

from what ive heard there are Scions with the 1NZ and the equipment to make them produce 250bhp, in a car that weighs less than a ton..... do a bit better against a breadvan.... erm..... civic typr r then.... go on... get a 20k loan!

something like that, was an american website, in fact someone one here pointed me in the direction but i forgot

im sure kevin has done ALOT of research into whats availble for the engine and theres quite alot if you look in the right areas

and think of this.... the crazy !Removed! can get over 400bhp out of a Glanza 1.3 turbo..... ;)

i try to keep an eye on LoVitz aswell, struggling with the epic language barrier, theres a few on there that are shoving over 200bhp

Then what you need sunshine is a wave of reality... your shopping trolley is a class below the Civic Type-R. It's also 10 insurance groups lower and £7000 cheaper. You spend £7000 on your Yaris and trust me, you will go very very much quicker than a Type-R.
