Hi guys.

Really silly question i expect but, is there anything i can do to my windscreen wipers to get them to stick to the windscreen at high speeds becasue when they move down they totally miss the screen because the wind lifts them off slightly. Can you get something to put on them to help? I feel stupid

As you can tell im not very good with cars, apart from ok at driving :D .....but what sort of prices would i be looking at for a full service from a garage...not main dealer though...there too dear arnt they?? It had a small service last year so probably needs a full service this year...done 135,000 now  but still going great. Good old 2

Cheers for :help: people

Take care

Seem to remember Jim bought some Toyota wipers and the drivers side had the 'fin' also... looks smart to boot!

a "fin" ?.... lol

It's called a spoiler!!

Toyota wipers come with the spoiler on the drivers side, as do Bosch ones, also Halfords wipers with an "s" come with the spoiler.... for example "18s" .... :)

The Bosch ones and Halfords ones fit craply though if I remember and have to use a fitting kit because of the design of the Mr2 wiper arms (the blades are screwed on) ....

Just bite the bullet and get Toyota ones. In the future you could then simply change the rubber instead of the whole blade.

Chris,

Regarding blades, I have the Bosch ones on mine, and they fit fine - the fitments you need should be supplied with the blades. Mine cost me less than £10 the pair on eBay and they work fine. It pains me to say it, as many years ago I was an engineer for one of their competitors, but Bosch are very good blades.

Re the lift, the spoiler on the drivers side will hep, but check the strength of the spring in the arm too; they can weaken over time. To do this properly you would need a specialist gauge, but you can get an idea of whether this is the contributing to the problem by gently pulling the arm away from the screen and comparing the effort required against another similar car; no point comparing it against something modern with much bigger blades as that would tend to have greater arm pressure anyway. If the arm pressure seems very weak then replacing the arm should help.

Service typically about £150 at Mr T with TOC discount, but very much depends on what you need doing i.e. add on a bit extra for brake fluid or coolant changes if required, and a lot extra for belt change if that's due. Best way is to ring them, discuss what needs doing, and get a price up front. Then get TOC discount of that price.

Hope that helps,

Tony
