An improvement over the current 2006 spec (see below), it seems they now see the market wants SUV looking vehicle and the 2007 model ticks all the right boxes :) .

Thanks Bob for the reply. I can't quite decide if its more Subaru Forester heightwise than Rav4 height. I'll be in the market for something similar (up to £22K ish) and in a dilemma over a used X5. Not to bothered about running costs but mileaged X5s (and VW Touregs) can bring trouble out of warranty, whereas Rav4s, Outlanders, Foresters (and Legacy) are all factory fresh

The other reason for looking at used X5s, is that they can be had as diesel autos. Does anyone know if the Toyota will bring out diesel autos?

The Outlander has the same 2.0 TDi from the Golf in manual form, but MAY get the 2.2 HDi unit from Peugeot in auto form.

Regards, Anil.

Anil,

I find the X5 a bit "in your face, look at me i've got loads on money and don't mind showing it off ", whereas the other choices you have mentioned are much more conservative and less likley to Get "keyed up " by the save the world tree huggers.

Another choice is the new facelift Hyundai Santa Fe, which if you squint your eyes could be a cloned RAV4 :) . I'm no Badge snob and would look at the Santa Fe as an option to a RAV4....and they do a diesel automatic as well.

Bob, I thought it was only me that thought the Santa Fe looked like a new Rav4 too  .

I have a soft spot for this new Outlander as I think the RAV4 is being cloned (as you say), but it will be interesting to see the deals on offer when released. Typically, there'll be none :( but I wonder if this will affect the competion much?

Regards, Anil.
