I have an st185 import just brought the car 79k gen miles, full jap and UK history, firstly after driving it for a couple of days the speedo has stopped, the engine light come's on and both go on and off intermittenly, it hasen't affected the performance in any way, can anyone help with this? where is the speedo sensor? it has been converted ,where will I find this? what does it look like?

The other prob is a slight leak from the bottom of the bell housing, and look's like crank shaft oil seal, is this common?

What are the best tuning mods for this model, bov, boost controller induction, also where can I buy a white dial kit from?

The leak from the CS oil seal is common on most cars of this age if it`s not been replaced by now. I usually replace the seal whenever i change a clutch on my own cars. It save agro later. It`s usually down to the rubber hardening with age/heat etc. It`s a major PITA to change the clutch on a Four so i`d be inclined to put up with the leak until you have to replace the clutch.

The speedo drive is eectronic on some celicas and mechanical on others. It's on the top of the gearbox. if you are looking from the fron top of the car, it`s on the right hand side of the car, on the top of the gearbox, near the back. looks like a very tall twisty bottle cap. with wires coming out of the top. got a kinda 'dog leg' bend in the middle. it's about 4" tall and 1" round. in silver or mud colour if you've been trhough some. Mechanical ones were used on UK cars and is in the same location but with a thick cable. Hope that helps.

as its a 185 the leak is most likely the cam cover gasket. not too bad to do.

check in the passenger footwell to make sure the wiring plugs are ok.

is it a CS/RC 185 or an air to air?
