Corolla Capers

Hello All,

Recently had my 98 Corolla lift back into Toyota for Mot and a cam belt change, and have been having a few probs with her since, and wandering if any one can shed any light as to probable causes.

Any way the car has done 43000 miles and ever since I’ve had it the car it has idled at around 500 rpm

The problems are as follows-

On changing gears the car seems to judder sharply when clutch released, and seems to have developed a slight scraping noise (constant) when in motion.

Acceleration drops off sharply when I take my foot off accelerator, and seems to lurch forward when put foot down to accelerate.

Couple of days ago when car parked on drive idling revs went from 500-700 rpm 3 times in quick succession , almost seemed to be chugging to keep going. ( no air con on or other accessories ).

And last but not least car has almost seemed to die as revs dropped to almost 0, at junctions this has happened twice today.

These problems have only seemed to come on since timing belt change , any chance there could be a connection ?

I am dropping it off at Toyota ( I work 150 yds away ) to see what they can find if anything.

Any pointers gratefully appreciated.

Regards

Albi
