Driving License

Hi everyone

Does anyone know if the rumor is true? I was told by a mate that it is now free to renew your driving license to the new ones with photo. I thought that you had to pay £25 to have it done.

Would be really handy to have the modern license dont you think?

i paid £15 for mine... sure of it.. this was about 9 months ago

it cost me 27.50 new staright after i passed...

but a mate of mine's dad lost his.. phoned up the DVLA and they renewed his for 15 quid. give em a bell, it only took him about 10 minutes. all done with your visa card

Jerry as far as I'm aware its free if you change your details, i.e address, other wise you have to pay.

I've been holding out as I resent paying but my old paper license is in about a thousand pieces!

Thanks for all your replies will have to checkout what vtrick say's could be a good idea just to ring them up mate. But one question what about the photo?? They will need a photo to renew it??

Speaking as someone who's done this twice in the past three years:-

Changing from paper to photocard will cost you something, even for a change of details eg address

Changing details on a photocard licence costs nothing.

Can't comment on needing to update the photocard (is it every 10 years or something, due to how old you'll look in the photo?) as I haven't done it yet.
