How Do I Find Out Engine Specs

does anyone know how to find out the actual engine specs for bhp and torque. the problem i am having is that i want to add a tuning box to the car. apparently there are 5 versions of the d4d that are for the avensis. the first is 90bhp which i know it isnt, the next two are 110bhp with two different torque versions and the last two are 116bhp with 185 and 207lb/ft respectively.

my car is an 04 plate and i am sure it was 114bhp, so say 116 for differences in the way bhp is calculated so that leaves me being stumped on the torque. i have looked through the owners guide but couldnt find it. is there any way i can find out from the engine number of is it simply a question of 'if it was built before such and such a date it was this and that if it was after it would be the other'?

if anyone can point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

thanks

matt

The 90 bhp is the Peugoet engine which was crap and hardly nobody bought it. It was made from '97 till August 2000 when they switched to the D-4D. This is the 110bhp engine and has 184lb/ft of torque and was installed from August 2000 till May 2003.

The 116bhp engine has 207 lb/ft of torque (May '03 to present) and as for the 2.2 ('05 to present), well this comes in two flavours... the 150 bhp and the T180 (177 bhp).

There is also a 130bhp 2.0 d-4d but I'm not sure if it's available just yet.

I can't find any info on the 116bhp 185lb/ft anywhere, so I think you should be able to draw your own conclusions.....

i think you are right. i did a search on the net and all of the likes for the 185lb/ft version were american so i assume that is what their cars come with. it is better that mine is the 207 version as the chip will take it to 237lb/ft and 136bhp

Hi Matty

Did you manage to chip your car? Which one did you go for and how good has it been?

Cheers

Andrew
