Seat Belt Chimes: How Do You Disable?

it's presumably a switch and sensors type of thing. Apart from pulling connectors and shorting circuitry you're stuck with it.

You could induce deafness by going to 1 too many Metallica concerts and standing with your head inside one of the Marshall Stacks, Or you could do as DA suggested............it is the law after all !

if you dont fancy chopping up the switch, plug in the belt behind the seat or plug in the passenger belt to it. Or just wear it.

Somewhere in the RAV forum there's a post about how to disable it in the previous gen RAV - Its to do with ignition keys and sidelights iirc - so you may want to try that.

Or ask Mr T

Personaly I would just wear the seatbelt though...

didn't know there was one on the yaris, but there's one on the corolla. It seems like a good idea so it alerts you to put your seatbelt on and I know it's required by law that you wera a seatbelt, but i'm pretty sure when I was learning to drive and reading up on various things that you don't have to wear a seatbelt if you have a certain medical condition and something like a doctors note, anyone know if this is true.

If so what do you do about disabling the beeping, because if you can't wear your seatbelt you can't drive with the beeping all the time it would do your head in.

True, there are exemption certificates for certain medical conditions. There are a few other exemptions too IIRC. There will be a technical way to disable the chimes, Like Alan said - try Mr T. I'm sure they'll have the info somewhere.

Try pushing the red seat belt release button when it starts beeping. It works on older Nissan's so you never know.

This is for info only and you follow this advice at your own risk etc etc

You could go to the scrap yard and find a seat belt that is the same.. and jus take the clip. So you can leave it in the socket the whole time. I dont know it that will work, but you could give it a try?

Could you lead the seatbelt around the back of the seat and plug it in from behind so it doesnt cross the front where you are sitting? That would be better than leading it through the front leaving it a bit uncomfortable to rest back on your seat.

Alternativly... I would just wear it.. :D
