hey guys jus wondering if you now what could be causing the dull knocking sound im getting when driving, it only seems to happen when turning corners and at certain speeds, its not a loud noise but it is noticable, and you can slightley feel it through your feet when there on the floor.

cheers

If it's when you turn the wheel, rather than when you go over a bump, then very likely (though not certain) to be a CV joint.

I see you're in East Midlands, so you could contact Toyauotcentre in Nottingham; they charge £35 to diagnose that sort of thing, but that is refundable if you have the work done by them.

nice one matey, could it also be a wheel bearing as ive jacked the car up and theres a bit of play if the front passenger side wheel?, (as in i can wobble it) and ive checked that the wheel nuts are all at the correct tension. also how much would the cv joint cost me to fix?

thanks

Chances are it`s your wheel bearing. CV joints tend to click (Loudly) when the steering is locked round when they are on the way out. I`d be inclined to check the hub centre nut is adjusted correctly then check for free play and/or roughness in the bearing again. If it`s still there then it`ll be time to renew the wheel bearing. Not really a DIY job unless you`ve got access to at best a press and at least a !Removed! big vice :)
