Are You Sure Your Car Is Locked....

Recently I was aware that there there was no "hoink and flashing lights" when opperating my remote key lock...Eventually, I realised there was a pattern to this phenomena. It always happened at certain localities.

To prove it, I made repeat trips to these "parking spots" and sure enough I could only lock the car using the key inserted in the lock.

Anyway, cutting the story short it only happened the on the edge of Tescos car park and the rear of Aldi

Tesco have a buried loop which can activate an out of bounds trolley - something I just happened to notice whilst parking there - a customer was trying to get outside the boundry when the wheels locked - dead clever ehh...

As for they Aldi site - its a recently built branch so I'm only guessing its a similar story - or could be some kind of security loop.

The effect is the same as pressing and holding a TV remote button and trying to change channels with another one. The handset is "locked out"

So, if you have had need to report a remote problem to your dealer - see if there has been a pattern first...

i got a simgma m30 cat 1 alarm but its an early one and is affected by radio transmitters IE radio masts and mobile phone masts.

park near one of them and youll be pushing the car untill clear as it scrambles the remote.

could be there is a mast somwhere

Without some research, its difficult to know. I may borrow some test equipment from where I used to work and do some field work...

My guess is loops are burried (traffic light detector) in the tarmac. I suppose there could be directional transmitters located on masts.

Anyway, its an interesting project...Ill have to read up on EMC Compliancy.
